So... here are a few differences:
1. they drive on the other side of the road.
2. roundabouts are deadly
3. French fries are called chips
4. chips are called crisps
5. cookies/crackers are biscuits
6. they do not have REAL biscuits
7. they say "I'll phone you" not "I'll call you"
8. they end sentences with their inflection going up like a question.... it really trips me up in loud areas.
9. mingin'= gross
10. pants are actually underpants and trousers are your pants
11. pints are way cooler than the sizes back home
12. you always carry an umbrella where ever you go.
13. migies are basically mutant mosquitoes that bite you and never die.
14. Haggis is basically incredibly salty sausage
15. apparently its OK to eat mayo on your pizza
16. no one eats ketchup really, its all salt and vineger on your french fries.
17. there are a million and one phrases to describe someone who is stupid
18. when the scots drink... pronunciation goes out the window and they just start to slur and mumble until they keel over.
19. They are way more fashion oriented.
20. they have very unhealthy obsessions with chocolate... this is not good for me!
21.... jaffy cakes.... weirdest thing known to man. Orange-ish flavored chocolate covered concoctions that taste so odd.
22. the lack of elevators is startling
23. everyone walks to these small bakers at lunch and orders baked goods from them instead of drive throughs and Fast food.
24. Burger king is better over here, but McDonalds is shit.
25. If you ask questions, people help you, if you look confused when they try to explain something, they talk slower and ask you where you are from.....
26. The american southern girl accent is a big hit in bars.
27. "nae bother!" is the polite way of saying no problem...
28. Aye! = yes
29. ehe? = huh?
30. How is used instead of why. as in "Dont do that." "how not?" translation "why not?"
